Our Story
Bold North Blooms is a specialty cut flower farm in Lake St. Croix Beach, Minnesota — born from a decade of intentional saving, a deep love for nature, and a vision too big for an urban yard.
How It Started
Bold North Blooms is a family farm headed by me, Tricia. I have two young kids and a husband, Charlie, who never says no to my crazy ideas and projects, like moving to the valley and starting a flower farm. After years of lovingly tending my annual vegetable garden, my oldest friend came by with a freshly cut bouquet of flowers grown in her own yard and I was captured by their beauty and the idea of growing cut flowers. In the years that followed, I filled every inch of my urban yard with flowers, adding new varieties every year — until I recognized that my vision had outgrown my space.
My family saved for ten years to buy this property — a deliberate, long-term act of faith in myself and this dream. The farm sits on 2.5 acres in Lake St. Croix Beach, directly off the scenic St. Croix byway, surrounded by mature trees and my family home. I hope you enjoy our flowers as much as we love growing them for you. Follow along as we take our property from overgrown with invasive plants to a haven for native pollinators, insects, and wildlife that support our ability to grow beautiful flowers that work with nature, not against it.

The Perennial Way
“The journey of the perennial is like the journey of this farm. Starting lean, establishing roots, designed to deepen and flourish over decades.”

How We Grow
Restoration and ecological stewardship are central to what Bold North Blooms is — not marketing language, but a genuine operating principle. This farm is being built as a living ecosystem from the roots up. Established in 2026, we have a long way to go. We began by clearing invasive growth across our property and will be working to restore native prairie and diverse habitat across the farm that supports pollinators and wildlife of all kinds. You may find the occasional nibble on a flower petal but you won't be getting any toxic chemicals running off into the river.
Native plants established throughout the entire property. Intentional pockets of undisturbed habitat for wildlife, pollinators, and beneficial insects.
No fossil fuel-based fertilizers, no chemical pesticides or herbicides. No-till and soil-life-supporting practices, always.
Every plant placed on the property is researched for ecological fit. The long-horizon planting philosophy mirrors the business: patient, roots-first, built to last.
Designed from ground-level insects up to birds of prey. A farm where nature supports the farm as much as the farm supports nature.

The Name
Minnesotans don’t lament their deep winters. They celebrate four distinct seasons that give the year its rhythm and produce summers of extraordinary beauty.
The name was inspired by the Minnesota Bold North campaign — a spirit that leans into the state’s winter identity rather than apologizing for it. Minnesota’s climate shapes what we plant and when — we work with it, not against it.
